We all know that. Most of us have at least looked at Biblical prophecy: but often only Daniel and Revelation. But there is much that is rarely taught. Do we understand what to look for as the current age comes to an end?
I quit teaching about these things for many years because all the classes quickly degenerated into speculation. That is a waste of time. I learned this from my pastor who finally forbade the subject in Sunday school, along with political debates. The operative scriptures (among many) are:
Genealogies no longer seem to be much of a problem, but wasting our time trying to figure out how the news fits prophecy is. Hindsight still works reasonably well with several years distance, but we need to be careful.
We were cleaning out the garage the other day—going through boxes of old books. Two I tossed, though Pat says I should have kept them, 88 reasons why the Lord will come in 1988 and 89 reasons why he will come in '89.
Remember what Jesus said: "No one knows the day or the hour." The Lord has spoken through me on several occasions to tell his people that none of us has it figured out. We need to be focused on being ready for him to come today.
Allow the Holy Spirit to show you the truth. If the world and the religious leaders were fooled the first time when Jesus came among us, how can we expect it to be any different the second time he comes in the flesh as King?
What is certain is that Christians will not be yanked out leaving their cars and planes to crash. God doesn't work that way and the Bible clearly says that we will be taken away and no one will notice.
Isaiah 57:1 says: The righteous man perishes, and no one lays it to heart; devout men are taken away, while no one understands… ESV
Revelation 19: 11-12 says: Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.
Let he or she who has eyes, see…

He's a very private man, so you'll never see a real photo of him. But this is close to how he sees himself in the mirror every morning.
Naw! I'm just jerkin' your chain. But I do see myself as someone like this old codger. Pomposity revealed—I know.
David's been teaching scripture and biblical prophecy since 1974. He spent 12 years as the teaching pastor for a small Foursquare church in Albuquerque. His focus is on scripture as opposed to commentaries. His basic belief is that the Bible means what it says and that all content is inspired by the Holy Spirit. So the basic assumption is that you cannot understand scripture without talking to the author—the Spirit of the Living God.
